Description
miniVAN is a mobile canvassing application that integrates with websites provided by NGP VAN. The miniVAN system allows users to export canvassing lists from VAN onto an iOS or Android device. Canvassers can then enter data into their device as they talk to people on their list. When the canvassers connect their device to the Internet over a wireless or cellular network, they can upload their data back to the VAN with the touch of a button.
Canvassing with miniVAN allows NGP VAN clients to spend more time and resources on actually contacting people instead of on data entry. What’s more, it virtually eliminates the lag time between collecting canvass results and putting that data to work.

I used this a lot during 2024 canvassing. Suggestions: I would love to be able to hide voters on the map, such as to filter out the houses that I've already done. When I zoom out, it's impossible to tell. Second, I would have loved to see my totals across multiple lists because it all became a blur. How many total houses did I visit? No idea. I think the rest of the stuff I would suggest is related to how campaigns set up response options. E.g., there needs to be a "can't find address" option.

Pretty great app for canvassing. I do have one issue where I can't sync properly. If I have new data that needs to be uploaded, then the app allows me to sync. If I do NOT have any new data, then it will not sync. This is preventing me from seeing some of the houses my team has already canvassed. Multiple times I have knocked on a door that someone else has already canvassed due to this bug.

I would watch a tutorial (twice) before I set up an account and expected to use minivan. It was easy to keep up with voters in one's turf. One drawback is that I cannot find a menu that allows me to click: mailed postcard?

After the latest update it resets your location on the map after every house. I am loosing my mind, please fix this. Thank you.

This app could use an upgrade! It would be awesome if the lit drops you completed turned a bright color because when you are outdoors it is difficult to tell the difference between black and gray. It should sync automatically. The addresses should be organized in a more user-friendly manner. Once you finish your list it should move into a finished file. Make it easier for volunteers to use.

Pretty shorty map experience for an app that relies so heavily on the map experience. Misses houses by entire blocks. And be sure you're zoomed in before plotting your route - the app doesn't group things intelligently if you're zoomed out too far. Edit: edited from 2 to 1. The list won't sync. This app is pretty useless.

The way you can't see the individual houses unless you are FULLY zoomed in is the most brain dead feature I think I've ever seen in a canvassing app. Absolute GARBAGE
