NightEar

NightEar is a baby monitor with two phones you already own: iPhone, iPad and Android, in any combination. One phone stays in the nursery and listens, the other goes with you. You hear live what's going on, get an alert when your baby cries and a loud alarm when the connection drops. Everything stays on your own Wi-Fi.

No new baby monitor to buy
An old phone from the drawer makes a fine baby phone. Mixed works too: an Android phone in the nursery and your iPhone with you, or a tablet downstairs. Up to four phones can listen to one baby phone.

Live sound and alerts
You hear the nursery with about half a second of delay, also with your screen locked. The baby phone compares what it hears with the room's own steady sound. When it gets louder, you get an alert. When the sound is like crying, you see "Your baby is crying". That is recognized on the phone itself. You choose how sensitive, and how long a sound must last. The baby phone learns a fan or a heater by itself. With headphones or earbuds in, NightEar keeps playing next to your podcast, music or video, and an alarm turns that other sound down or pauses it.

An alarm when the connection drops
The baby phone sends sound all the time. After 3 seconds without a signal your screen turns orange, after 10 seconds a loud alarm sounds on the parent phone. You always see how full the baby phone's battery is too, and get an alert if the charger comes loose.

Talk and watch
Hold Talk and your voice plays in the nursery. One parent talks at a time and the others see who. Every phone has its own name. With Watch you see a live picture from the baby phone's camera, while NightEar is open there. Night view makes a dark picture lighter. Nothing is recorded.

Night log
When was there sound, and how long did your baby cry? The night log keeps only times, never sound, and stays on your phone for 14 days.

Pair with a QR code
Open NightEar on both phones, pick baby phone and parent phone and scan the code. The next evening they find each other by themselves. You can add a parent in the middle of the night too, without stopping the baby phone.

Privacy
Sound and picture only go between your own paired phones, over your own Wi-Fi, encrypted with a key only those phones have. No account, no server for your sound or picture, no ads, no tracking. We collect no data.

Safe use
Place the baby phone at least 3 feet (1 meter) from the crib and keep the cable out of reach. Put it in flight mode with Wi-Fi on, so it only uses your own Wi-Fi. Test the alarm before you go to sleep. On Android the Phone check helps you set the battery setting right.

Works with Android 10 or later, and iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later. Both phones on the same Wi-Fi network.

NightEar is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. It does not replace adult supervision.

Free, with no ads and no subscription. A baby monitor from A Brand New Company.
