Offline Maps: Lycian Way (for TrailSmart)

★★★★★ Perfect app for the Lycian Way! I hiked pretty much all of the Lycian Way from late May to early July 2018 and this app was a godsend. Although the LW is generally well waymarked, there are times when you will get lost even with a good map and compass. Also, while I had data reception most of the time I was walking, there were stretches where I was without signal for the whole day - hence the need for a reliable offline as well as online backup. In addition the app lists water sources (invaluable for planning ahead in terms of how much to carry with you), sites of interest, restaurants, pensions and more. Some of the pension recommendations were highlights of my LW experience. On a final note, like most apps this one had occasional glitches along the way. When they occurred, I emailed developer Eugene and he always responded very quickly with solutions or suggested workarounds. All in all, I highly recommend this app to help you get the most out of your LW. Use it when you need to. The rest of the time, keep it in your pocket and enjoy the scenery... ;)

★★★★★ Off line map is essential. If you stray off the route you can navigate back safely. Whether it be backtracking or a direction to get back on route. You can also work out time and distance to key locations such as water, camping areas, accommodation food shops, mosque. You can carry less food & water so pack weight is reduced and you can focus on the scenary!

★★☆☆☆ Poor. No real instructions. Information on sights. No map. No advice on map. Maps are the most important part of trekking. Everything else is easily found on the net. Disappointed.
