Very helpful from the tenant side. I can see why landlords hate it so much. Landlords have gotten away with taking advantage of tenants for too long. However, I will say that, like anywhere else, take all reviews with a grain of salt. Personally I've found it super helpful in my apartment this year and helped me avoid some potentially hazardous and unpleasant living situations.

DEFINITELY a resource you'll need in NYC. The only honest reviews you can get are locked behind people you'll probably never meet, let alone speak with. Considering every app/company that works in realty has a bottom line to contend with, a 3rd party platform is definitely a good place to start looking into a place. Also, don't be afraid to haggle with your lease, there's no landlord in NYC who isn't hurting, get the best you can cause you probably can't get much.

Crashes. Always crashes when searching for apartments on the Listings tab. It would be useful without the instability.

The latest update seems to have broken the app. You cannot see any reviews, and I was originally signed in but after the update I was signed out, I guess. I don't see my past review either. I would suggest Open igloo pauses their social media and fix the app because in its current state this is pretty useless and there's no reason to encourage people to use the app if it's broken.

You must be joking. I registered in this app on 9/8/2020, and today, on 3/31/2023, I received a message that my review was not approved. Does this mean that it was not posted for 2.5 years? What's the point of this app then? The building could've changed the management several times over this period. UPD: Oh and from my apartment search back in 2020 and 2021 I remember I didn't use this app in the end. I don't remember if it was useless, or it never gave me permission to see the listings.
