Pack Ready

Pack Ready writes a packing list for the trip you are about to take, then helps you work through it.

Start a trip with a name, the number of nights (1 to 30), the kinds of trip and the weather you expect. You can pick several of each: city, beach, business, hiking, ski, camping and traveling with kids; hot, mild, cold and rainy. Three switches finish the setup: traveling abroad, laundry available and carry-on only.

The list comes from a built-in set of 172 items, each tied to rules. A beach trip in hot weather gets swimwear and after-sun. A passport only appears when you travel abroad. An item reached by several rules, such as sunscreen, is listed once. Counts follow the nights: underwear and socks are one per night plus one, and stop at 7 when you can do laundry. Carry-on only trims clothes, switches liquids to travel size and leaves out blades and bulky extras. There is one phone charger however long you stay.

Items are grouped into clothes, toiletries, documents, tech, health, gear and kids. Check them off as they go into the bag and the suitcase meter above the list fills, one compartment per group, so you can see at a glance that the documents are done and the tech is not. Change any count, mark items you are not taking, or add your own.

A second list covers the house: lock the windows, empty the fridge, water the plants, plus extra jobs for trips abroad or longer than a week.

Keep up to 20 trips. Copy a trip to use it as a template for the next one: your own items and changed counts come along, the check marks do not. Edit a trip's setup later and the list is rebuilt without losing what you changed by hand.
