I used this temporarily because Cast box was glitching. I went back to Cast box because I like being able to have conversations about the podcast episode with other listeners. But if you don't care about that, this is an extremely good player

It has a very annoying bug where sections of podcasts often get repeated and so the end of the episode might get truncated-at first I thought it might just be sloppy editing, but it happens too often on different podcasts, so it must be a Pocket Casts issue

In my opinion this is the perfect app for listening to podcasts for free. Yeah that's right, you heard me, completely free. It works perfectly. I've been using it for at least 2 years, and I've never had any issues. I use an RSS feed for a podcast I am paying for. And I plug in my RSS feed, and I get every new season with no issue. It's very easy to add podcasts to my play order and move them around. Listen to Mysterious Universe and Inescapable. They'll open up your mind.

Buggy and frequently hides episodes regardless of settings. Downloaded a podcast to show friends on a car ride, and proceeded to fight the app to play the saved episodes, because I'd listened to them before, and it kept re-marking them as listened. Suboptimal for anyone who doesn't want the most bare-bones podcast playing features with no intent to revisit anything they've listened to

Formerly a five-star review. I get tired of having to skip the sign in screen every time I open the app. No, I'm not going to make a freaking account to listen to podcasts on an app I bought. If this doesn't go away soon I'm giving this one star and using a different app. There's no shortage out there.

This app has steadily gotten buggier over the past year. There's now a several second lag between pressing play and audio starting even with downloaded episodes, the queue is frequently randomly emptied when it was previously always persistent, and it doesn't seem to cache anything anymore, so it's always reloading podcast art and episode lists. I'm using it primarily out of momentum and because I paid for it years ago. Absolutely not worth subscribing to if you're a new user.
