You do not need the app, but very convenient The app only brings you to the princess OFFLINE page. No need to buy internet to use the Messenger at all. It was a little hectic to find your "friend code" but once you add your friends its smooth sailing. One downfall is that there is no way for push notifications, however when you open up the internet a red flag will appear when you have a message. The part I liked best was the patter. I hate that you only get 1 per room and this way it was much better and you can customize your own daily patter.

This is not an app. It keeps asking for USERID and password so definitely not capable of push notifications. Same thing on iPhone version! Pity there either no internet unless you fork out millions or at least a decent messenger app for use on their WiFi. This is no better and seems worse than just using their website.

Horribly frustrating to use Ships wifi constantly disconnected from Note 3. Had to reconnect over and over again and then refresh browser to check for new messages. Needs a notification with sound for new messages. It's not much of an app, it only redirects to "Princess at sea" website.
