The official RideMETRO app allows you to plan trips and pay for rides on bus and rail services operated by METRO public transit in Houston, Texas.
By allowing the app to access your location, you’ll see: • Nearby bus and rail routes • Real-time arrival estimates for nearby buses • Scheduled arrival times for nearby trains
You can even choose to receive onscreen notifications or pulse vibrations at key points during your trip.

This app and the new Ride Metro fare card are absolutely horrible! The Q card was always reliable. I've been riding the bus for decades now and have never had difficulty until now. The new app is useless and causes my phone to restart every time I open it. I cannot add money to the fare card because it can only be done through the app, the website or a grocery store I can't get to bc it takes 2 buses to get there. The app doesn't work. The website also does not work and just gives me an error.

While the functionality of the app is great for the most part, the part where we have to scan the QR code on the scanner on the bus does not work 75% or the time, or you have to try like 20 times. I wish the QR code was made slightly bigger and strategically placed on the app so that the scanner would work flawlessly. Also, metro could allow using NFC to make the payments through the virtual card instead or in addition to trying to scan the QR code.
