RuneAudio Remote Control

★★★★★ Scans the local network and finds devices with Rune Audio Player in seconds. Works flawless over Wi-Fi with my two headless Rune Audio players based on the Raspberry Pi 2, a HiFiBerry DAC+ and DIGI+. I would expect this to become the preferred way to control headless Rune Audio players on a local network, with the current browser version just a fallback. Not as polished as Kore/Kodi, or as powerful as Yates, but not as complicated either, and requiring fewer steps to play an album or a track. I have it installed on an old Nexus tab which I keep in the same room as my stereo, and on my Samsung Galaxy phone. You must have Wi-Fi enabled on your phone or tablet, and run a somewhat recent version of Android, as well as an updated version of Rune. A year-old release won't work, and I am not sure why someone would expect it to, since Rune is still in Beta. An older or spare device works fine assuming it will take an Android update. Rune has most of the basic features one would expect, but new ones are still being added and bugs are being fixed, so an occasional update is highly recommended, and the quality of the audio is awesome.

★★★★★ The app itself is as expected. Easy, user-friendly UI. I personally had problems with Runes and ended up having to switch to Volumio due to WLAN issues. Volumio is working great for me. I did see that some people were able to use the Rune Audio app with their Volumio server, but I did not have the same luck. Nevertheless, the app and OS are great. 👍👍

★★☆☆☆ Performance is no better than pinning a browser page to the start window. The swiping to find the player is quite confusing especially as the web viewer doesn't need it. The worst is that the "android back arrow" closes the app instead of the action performed by clicking the back arrow on top of the page, which would've probably been the only difference between this and using chrome and worth 5* on its own. Alas...

★★☆☆☆ Constant crash Had to add my player manually and once added, the app crashed as soon as it was loaded. Nexus 6p.

★★☆☆☆ App ran on the first day, now it just shows half an upside down, green android robot in the top left corner of the screen. Disappointed as I had a great use for this app.
