I depend on Scientific American for making real science easier to understand. In a world with contrived information masquerading as fact, SciAm is a critical tool.

It is such a useful app to read daily news or articles. It can be practical to boost reading comprehension

Interesting article. Refreshing to know that the Uber puzzle of consciousness is getting scientific attention. In this case through the lens and practice of advanced meditation. Also an indirect angle on the relationship between science and traditional wisdom as in religions.

Scientific American is always a keeper magazine. Although the paper edition of the magazine is gorgeous, the typeset is incredibly small and difficult on the eyes - even if you see well. The app allows you to more easily digest articles because the font size is adjustable. Even on a phone (IMO, tablet recommended) the important info from this awesome publication can be fully explored.

It's 2024 and your app doesn't have a dark mode? I'm just supposed to be blinded by a full white background every time I want to read something...

Downloading issues has issues. I'm not sure why there's an option to download articles because you can't read them unless you're online. If I'm not online when I start the app the screen sits blank with the spinning wheel. If I want to read offline I have to go somewhere with Wi-Fi or cell service, start the app, let the menu load, and then I can read downloaded articles if I lose service. 🤔 Very poor design from a magazine that is supposed to be on the cutting edge of science.

Not interested in social science and partisan political feelings, just want factual, impartial hard science content. Scientific American is deviating from physical, fixed science to promoting their views on politics.

The new version is better, but it still gets confused. I use VPNs always, and I think it causes an issue for this app. Over time, it forgets (expired or bad token in bg?), and once it does, you cannot access your online subscription or other functions. I have to reinstall it, very annoying. Still waited for a real fix and better QA with this app. 11/29 - Still broken, no digital magazine access.
