Sleep Sounds & Noise: Ember

Ember is a sleep sounds machine you mix yourself. Layer white, pink and brown noise with rain, crackling fire, wind, ocean water, birds, a passing train and a soft bell, then drift off to a sleep timer that fades the sound out instead of cutting it dead.

Whether you want white noise to fall asleep, brown noise to focus, or gentle rain sounds to relax, Ember lets you build the exact sound you need and save it.

Mix your own soundscape
Eight faders, each with its own volume: rain, birds, wind, water, fire, train, bell and noise. Blend them into a personal mix - soft rain for reading, ocean waves for winding down, a crackling campfire for a cozy night in. Every loop is seamless, with no gaps or clicks, so the sound stays smooth all night.

White, pink and brown noise
One tap switches the noise channel between white noise, pink noise and brown noise. Use it on its own like a classic sound machine, or slide it under rain and fire for a deeper, warmer wall of sound that masks traffic, snoring, neighbours and office chatter.

Sleep timer with a gentle fade
Set a sleep timer for 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes, or your own time up to 10 hours. Ember fades the sound out slowly at the end, so it never stops abruptly and wakes you. Playback keeps going with the screen off.

Save your favourite mixes
Save any blend as a preset and bring it back with one tap. Keep a brown noise mix for sleep, a rainy mix for focus and a calm mix to relax, then switch between them anytime.

Light or cozy dark
Switch between a bright cream look and a warm dark one that is easy on the eyes at bedtime. Ember speaks English, Bengali, Hindi, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, German and French.

No ads, no account
Sound plays fully offline, so no connection is needed once the app is installed. There are no ads, no sign-up and no subscription. Your mixes and presets stay on your device. Ember does send anonymous crash reports and usage statistics, which is how bugs get found and fixed - see the Data safety section for the details.

Perfect for
Sleep and insomnia, focus and study, working from home, meditation and yoga, reading, relaxation, calming a baby or toddler, blocking office and street noise, and soothing tinnitus.

Sounds included
