Description
SMS Backup is a very simple app that makes a backup of your SMS and MMS messages (images and audio files), lets you share them and then restore/transfer to another phone (currently only SMS).
Important notice: - This app doesn't restore deleted messages. - If you're missing some messages or one side of conversation in your backup, it's probably because this app doesn't back up RCS messages (also known as Advanced Messaging) unless you use Google Messages as your default texting app. Turning Advanced Messaging off will allow the app to back up new messages only, not those already stored as RCS.
The app can export your conversations to two different formats: 1) nice-looking read-only HTML format with chat bubbles, 2) restorable JSON data file in case you plan to transfer your messages to another phone, and saves them to your internal device storage.
You can easily send these files to your e-mail, Gmail, Google Drive or wherever you want. If you are switching to a new phone and you want to transfer your SMS messages, this app is exactly what you're looking for. It not only creates a data file which is required to restore messages, but also saves your text messages to HTML format. Therefore you can open and view your backed up messages almost anywhere, whether it is your computer or iPhone!

Great option to back up sms/mms messages. I was able to back up a conversation to HTML and PDF. Both worked really well and so great that it was free. No need to buy a subscription or premium access. So nice to see.

Fantastic. Lets you save your old text messages to a bunch of essentially, plaintext files in a folder of your choosing on your SD card etc. Great when just wanting to rescue a few notable txts off an old phone. Delete the years of rubbish first, then just save what's important to a few HTML files, easy. If you ever need to go back and check old messages, any browser can read the HTML files (or you can even just dive into them with a text editor). Worked intuitively & flawlessly 1st time

Maybe it's me but it sucks! Downloaded to both phones, won't access its own backups nor allow me to pull from memory card which I also backed up to.

Unable to Transfer Texts. Backup on Android 6 OK but wouldn't go on to transfer to Google Drive. Ad appeared and app reset once returned to it. Using menu option to do that worked, but resulting JSON file wouldn't be picked up on destination device :o(

Warning do not use, or you will lose all your texts. I use this to back up my text and now that I'm trying to restore my text it's telling me it only restores backups that it creates. It did create these backups, so I have no idea why it won't restore.
