PLAN BEFORE YOU OBSERVE
Set an observing location, date and time to explore the sky from that position. Use the horizon plot to compare a target's direction and altitude, then choose what to look for during your session. The app combines a constellation finder with a manual observing planner; you make the decisions about where to point and what to record.
Browse the selectable catalog of constellations, named stars and planets. The finder contains 37 named targets: 12 constellations, 20 stars and five planets. A separate bright-star background helps orient the map. These are different parts of the catalog, so the background stars are not hundreds of additional searchable targets.
MATCH THE VIEW TO YOUR EQUIPMENT
Save equipment profiles and explore how a target fits within a telescope view. Use telescope and eyepiece information to plan a field of view, or work with camera-sensor equipment settings when preparing an imaging setup. Compare your planned framing before going outside rather than relying on a generic sky picture.
Field-of-view calculations support planning; they do not operate a telescope or camera. The app does not connect to a mount, identify an object through a camera, overlay an augmented-reality view or guarantee what your equipment will resolve.
USE THE SKY MAP IN THE FIELD
The bundled catalog and observing tools work offline. Optional location and device-pointing features help orient the view when the relevant device capabilities and permissions are available. You can also work with the manual location and pointing controls. Use the red field mode when you want a less intrusive screen during an observing session.
Treat plotted positions as planning information. Weather, light pollution, the horizon, equipment and observing conditions affect what is actually visible. The app has no live cloud forecast, satellite tracker or automatic object-recognition service. Its star-map tools concern astronomy, not astrology or birth charts.
KEEP AN OBSERVATION LOG
Record a target, equipment and observing notes so that a session leaves a useful record. Return to previous entries when planning another night or comparing observations from different dates and locations. A field log can hold the practical details that a sky map alone cannot remember: what you looked for, the equipment you used and your own account of the view.
Export your observing information as PDF or CSV for a personal archive, a printed reference or further work outside the app. Exports are files you choose to share; they do not create a live collaborative notebook or cloud synchronization. Your observations remain your own records rather than an automatically verified identification.
FOR MANUAL OBSERVING AND PREPARATION
Choose a supported sky target, plan its view with your equipment and record the result. No account is required for local planning, and the app contains no advertising.
CATALOG ATTRIBUTION
The bright-star background is derived from the HYG 4.1 catalog by David Nash / Astronomy Nexus under CC BY-SA 4.0. Attribution also appears in the app and relevant exports. The named target finder is a smaller selected catalog and is not a complete survey of every visible object.
