Step Counter - Pedometer Walk

Most step counters stop counting the moment your screen locks, or quietly miss steps until you open the app and watch them jump. This one is built differently.

COUNTS WHEN YOUR PHONE IS IN YOUR POCKET
Step Counter reads your phone's dedicated hardware step sensor - the same low-power chip your phone already uses to count movement. That sensor keeps counting with the screen off, with the app closed, and even if Android shuts the app down to save memory. When you open the app, your steps are already there, because they were never being counted by the app in the first place.

NOTHING TO CALIBRATE
There is no sensitivity slider to fiddle with and no stride calibration to get wrong. Because the counting happens in your phone's sensor hardware rather than by guessing from raw motion, you do not have to tune it to make it work, and waving your phone around does not add steps.

NO ACCOUNT. NO EMAIL. NO SIGN-IN.
Open the app and start walking. There is no registration, no questionnaire and no profile to create before you can see a step count. Your height, weight and gender are used only on your device, to work out your stride length and calorie estimate - a taller walker covers more ground per step, and a heavier walker burns more.

ONE-TIME PURCHASE, NOT A SUBSCRIPTION
The app is supported by ads. If you would rather not see them, a single one-time purchase removes them permanently. There is no monthly plan and no yearly renewal.

NOTIFICATIONS YOU CONTROL
Every notification lives in its own Android channel, so you can silence the ongoing step count, the water reminders and the activity reminders separately - or switch any of them off entirely - from your phone's own settings. The ongoing step notification is silent by default.

WHAT YOU GET
- Steps, distance, calories burned and active time for today and every past day
- Distance and calories worked out from your own height, weight and gender, not a one-size-fits-all average
- A daily step goal with a progress ring that fills as you move
- Daily, weekly and monthly charts, plus your full history
- Achievements and walking streaks as you pass milestones
- A water tracker with an optional daily target and reminders
- A sleep tracker with weekly and monthly charts
- A home-screen widget showing today's steps and goal progress
- Weight log with a trend chart and BMI, presented as plain numbers
- Save a backup file of everything and restore it later - no account needed
- Optional Health Connect sync, so your steps can appear in other health apps
- Dark mode that follows your system setting
- Distance in kilometers or miles

YOUR DATA, YOUR FILE
Export everything - steps, water, sleep and weight - to a single backup file you keep wherever you like, and restore it on a new phone. No sign-in, and no permission needed to do it.

WORKS WITHOUT A CONNECTION
Step counting, charts, history and every tracker work with no internet connection at all. Nothing about your activity is uploaded to us - there is no server to upload it to.

47 LANGUAGES
The whole app is translated, including Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Marathi, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Urdu and Vietnamese. Switch language inside the app at any time.

EASY ON YOUR BATTERY
Reading the hardware step counter costs very little power, and the app never turns on GPS to measure your walking. Location permission is not requested at all.

PERMISSIONS
- Physical activity: required to read the step sensor. Without it, steps cannot be counted.
- Notifications: for the ongoing step count and any reminders you switch on.

A NOTE ON ACCURACY
Steps come from your phone's sensor, so results vary slightly between handsets, and step, distance and calorie figures are estimates for general fitness awareness rather than medical measurements.

Start walking. Your first step is already counted.
