The app is ok. Journalism is pretty good. Best coverage of Perth and Western Australia. However, I keep getting notifications about topics I'm not interested in (sport and crime) even though I have Sports notifications turned off. Have just turned off Breaking News notifications hoping that helps. There's no option to turn crime stories off even though the app clearly marks heaps of stories with that category. I don't think crimes are 'news' unless statistically significant per capita.

Generally not bad, only annoying thing is I get Breaking News alerts when I have Push Notifications and Breaking News Alerts in Settings switched off.

When one pays a subscription, one expects for it to be an ad-free experience. Not The West! The app is still chockers full of ads, full of links to Taboola from the web links and the like. I paid $38 per month for access including Saturday's and Sunday's papers. I won't be renewing but will instead go back to buying the paper in my local newsagent. If it wasn't for the ads I would give the ap a higher rating, as the digital version of the newspaper is indeed a great feature.

Whenever I click on the notification to read the news article, it takes me to the wrong article in the app.

Horrible app Crashes all the time. And unable to read the paper. Once download. When u click read. App crazhes
