Tikabum: Learn Drums

Learn to play the drums from zero, a few minutes a day. You don't need a drum kit to start: your fingers on the screen, your hands on a table or a pair of sticks on a pillow are enough.

Tikabum is a real drum course, free and offline, with a judge that tells you in milliseconds if you are early, on time or late.

A COURSE FROM ZERO
41 short lessons in 8 units, in a clear order: the drum kit and the sticks, how to sit, reading rhythm (quarter notes, eighths, sixteenths, rests), your first rock beat, fills, rudiments, other styles, dynamics and ghost notes. Every lesson explains with drawings, then you listen and play along.

PLAY WITH REAL STICKS
Choose "Sticks + microphone" and play on a practice pad, a pillow or a real drum kit: the microphone hears every hit and tells you how close you were to the beat. Everything is analysed on your phone: nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.

THREE WAYS TO PLAY
- Pads: the whole drum kit on the screen, played with many fingers at once
- Tap: one big button, only the rhythm counts (perfect with your hands on a table)
- Sticks + microphone: on a pad, a pillow or a real kit

53 BEATS IN 11 STYLES
First beats, rock, pop, funk, shuffle and blues, jazz swing, bossa nova and latin, reggae, hip hop, metal and punk, and fills. Play the whole kit or just one part: the app plays the rest of the beat for you.

22 RUDIMENTS
Single and double stroke rolls, paradiddles, flams, drags and accent exercises, with the sticking R / L in colour and a target tempo.

DRUM NOTATION OR A SIMPLE GRID
Real drum notation, as in the method books, with a cursor that moves with the music. Don't read music yet? Switch to the grid view.

A JUDGE THAT IS REALLY ON TIME
Perfect, good, OK or missed for every hit, a bar that shows if you rush or drag, stars and tempo records. A calibration measures the small delay of your phone, so on time is really on time.

A METRONOME FOR DRUMMERS
Subdivisions, accents, tap tempo, gap click (silent bars that test your inner time) and a speed trainer that raises the tempo by itself.
