Tox Messenger

Tox Messenger is a private, peer-to-peer messenger built on the Tox protocol. There is no central server holding your conversations—messages go device to device with end-to-end encryption.

WHY TOX MESSENGER
• No phone number or email required to chat
• Local profiles with password protection
• Chat history encrypted on your device (per profile)
• Open contact by Tox ID or QR code

MESSAGING
• One-to-one text chats
• Group chats (create, invite, leave)
• Send files and media in private chats
• Disappearing messages with a shared timer and live countdown
• Delete chats or individual messages on your device

CALLS
• Voice and video calls (ToxAV)
• Group calls as multi-peer mesh when members are online
• Incoming call controls to answer or decline

PRIVACY & CONTROL
• Multi-profile support—switch accounts on one phone
• Recovery phrase when you create a profile (keep it offline)
• Online/offline presence for friends
• Notifications for messages and invites (with permission)

HOW TO START
1. Create a profile and set a password
2. Save your recovery phrase somewhere safe
3. Share your Tox ID or QR code with friends
4. Accept their friend request and start chatting

NOTES
• Both people need an internet connection and must be friends on Tox for live chat and calls
• First connection may take a short time while the app joins the Tox network
• Group and call features work best when contacts are online

Tox Messenger is for people who want messaging without a traditional account system—just cryptographic identities and direct peer connections.
