Hiking Journal: AI Field Guide

Hiking Journal is an AI field guide and nature journal for hikers. Take a photo, get a suggested identification with a full field guide entry, and save the sighting to a hiking journal that maps every hike.

AI FIELD GUIDE FOR THE TRAIL
One nature identifier covers what you find outdoors: plants, trees and wildflowers, mushrooms, birds, mammals, reptiles, insects and spiders, fish, rocks and minerals, seashells and animal tracks. Snap a photo and the AI suggests what it is in seconds.

MORE THAN A NAME
Every result reads like a page from a printed field guide: how to recognise it, look-alikes, habitat, season, observation tips, conservation status and facts worth sharing at camp. You also see what else it could be.

A HIKING JOURNAL THAT WRITES ITSELF
Each sighting is saved to your nature journal with photo, date, place, altitude and season. Add field notes, then browse your hike log three ways:
• Photos: everything you have found, month by month
• Journal: sightings grouped into outings by day and place
• Map: every sighting pinned where you found it
Filter by trees, birds, mammals and more, and watch your species count grow.

ASK THE AI HIKING ASSISTANT
Tap a suggested question under any result or type your own. Forty hiking topics cover trip planning, navigation, weather and Leave No Trace. Answers are general information for learning.

LEARN WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Results include educational hazard notes: possible hazards, dangerous look-alikes and general guidance. These are AI estimates for learning, never a confirmation that something is safe.

LOCATION, PRIVACY AND SHARING
Attach a location so the AI weighs species known from your region and season. Exact coordinates stay private. Keep sightings private or share them with other hikers, and delete a sighting or your account at any time.

13 LANGUAGES
Including Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Hindi.

FREE TO START
Begin with free identifications. Premium adds unlimited identifications and Advanced mode, a slower, more detailed analysis for tricky subjects. Try Premium free for 7 days; cancel any time in Google Play before the trial ends and you will not be charged.

WHO IT IS FOR
Day hikers, backpackers, birdwatchers, families, campers and students who want a plant identifier, bird identifier and hiking log in one outdoor app.

IMPORTANT: AI DISCLAIMER
Identifications are generated by artificial intelligence and are estimates, not expert verification. The AI can be wrong, and many species have dangerous look-alikes that cannot be told apart from a photo. Never eat, touch, handle or approach any plant, mushroom or animal based on this app alone. Hazard and edibility information is educational only and is not medical, veterinary, legal or professional advice. Always confirm with a qualified local expert, and contact emergency services or poison control immediately if you suspect poisoning, a bite or a sting. You are responsible for decisions made using this app.
