★★★★★ Better than All Trails. The map variety, the ability to cache maps and manage cached maps, waypoints, recording, exporting kml... I love this app. It doesn't have property boundaries or hunting details but I don't need that.

★★★★★ I am an avid mushroom forager and this app is perfect for pinning my locations and making notes so I can find them the next year, as well as keeping track of the dates that I find them. No pun intended, but I would be lost without US Topo Maps! I can't imagine NOT using it! Well worth the meager cost of upgrading to the full version.

★★☆☆☆ This app is great so long as you have mobile data, but offline caching is error-prone and unreliable. When downloading larger areas, you need to babysit the caching for hours to be sure that it all downloads correctly. There have been several times where I did offline downloads at home, but then when I got to the location to go hiking / camping / etc. I discovered that the download had not completed correctly, and that only certain layers or portions of layers cached. Fortunately, I carry backup maps on my watch and paper maps as well. But these kind of silent or nearly silent caching failures could put someone's life in danger were they to rely on these maps. This being the case, I have completely lost trust in the offline caching capability of this app. When caching, I plug the phone into its charger and set it going, but often it will just stop on its own at some point hours later saying 'download cancelled', even though there was no user intervention on my part. Once this happens, you need to restart the download from scratch, and the caching is not very efficiently done, so instead of just downloading the tiles that it didn't get to the first time, it has to start from layer 1 and re-confirm all of your previously downloaded tiles, which can take a very long time. There should be no need to go through 145,000 tiles that have already been successfully downloaded in order to complete downloading the remaining 15,000 tiles that didn't get downloaded when the caching code crashed / errored out. Just keep a record of tiles to be downloaded and remove them from the record as they are downloaded. At least then, that record can serve as a queue to complete an aborted download without having to completely re-confirm every previously downloaded tile. The app is set to have completely unrestricted battery usage, so it's not the Android OS at fault here. If only they could re-write the code that does the offline caching, this would be a 5-star app. At this point, I don't use it often because it's so unreliable at caching for offline use.
