Comments on Wire Metal Detector for Android

★★★★★ WTC Realist · Jan 17, 2018

It actually does a good job of detecting wire in walls and even tells you if it's a power wire. Best part of app is no advertisements, no bloat attached. It's Free AND Clear of any clutter!

★★★★★ Viatcheslav Bugayov · Apr 2, 2018

Impressive! I tried the metal wire mode and it works well. Of course, noise dominates if distance is large or current is low. Therefore, accumulation of the signal over time can improve sensitivity. Also, we can use stability of phase and phone's clock to further improve signal-to-noise ratio. I am not sure if frequency spectrum is computed correctly: it is maximal at about 40 Hz while I expected 60. But who knows, maybe the app discovered a problem in my power line! Also, I don't understand why the x-axis ends below 50 Hz, hiding the frequencies used by the app to detect wires.

Could not detect a live wire anywhere I knew there was. Even tested on a plugged in and in use battery charger. No metal. No Wire. This is potentially very dangerous. DO NOT RELY ON THIS APP.

★★☆☆☆ Matt Casdorph · May 22, 2018

Not impressed at all, I was trying to use this app to detect if I ran a wire through one of my walls because I have to cut a part out to install an air conditioner, and I couldn't remember if I did, tested it on a wall that I know has a wire exactly, and I couldn't get the app to give an accurate reading

Doest work. Gives the same result when exposed to wire or to a wooden table.
