Workplace Assess: DSE Check

Workplace Assess turns a phone into a workstation assessment. Point it at your desk and it measures the things a display-screen assessment is supposed to measure — posture, light and noise — scores them against the rules where you work, and hands back a plan of what to change.

MEASURED, NOT GUESSED
• Screen and posture: a short side-on camera capture estimates neck and trunk angle
• Lighting: a reading at the screen plane, against the 300–500 lux CIBSE LG7 asks for
• Noise: an eight-second ambient sample, against the ~55 dB advised for focused work
• Each module can be skipped, typed in by hand, or answered as a self-check instead

NOTHING IS RECORDED
• The camera and microphone are read, reduced to numbers, and dropped
• No video, no audio and no photograph leaves the device by any route
• What goes to your employer is the derived figures — angles, lux, dB — and only when you file the assessment

SCORED AGAINST THE RIGHT RULES
• United Kingdom: HSE DSE Regulations, CIBSE LG7 lighting, the Noise at Work Regulations
• Germany: ArbStättV and the ASR technical rules
• The country is yours to choose, and the scores and thresholds follow it

A PLAN, NOT JUST A SCORE
• An overall score out of 100, and one for each of DSE, lighting and noise
• Ranked actions that say what to change, why, and what it is worth
• Every result is kept on the device, and can be reopened from Your assessments

FOR THE PERSON AND FOR THE EMPLOYER
• Staff can run their own assessment with no account at all
• An employer can send a link or an eight-digit code, and filed assessments land in one dashboard
• A knowledge base explains DSE, lighting, noise, WCAG and UK GDPR in plain English, with a short DSE training module

Workplace Assess is a screening tool. It is not a substitute for a calibrated light or sound survey, or for a competent person's judgement — where a reading suggests one is needed, it says so.
