Description

World Audio Guides turns the places around you into an audio tour you can enjoy hands free.

Using your location, the app finds Wikipedia articles about the places nearest to you, sorts them by distance, and reads them aloud with voice narration, so you can keep walking, driving, or simply listening while you explore.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Discover geolocated Wikipedia articles near your current position, ranked by distance
• Listen to any article with built in voice narration, at an adjustable speed
• Follow along on an interactive OpenStreetMap view with markers for nearby places
• See a readable address for where you are
• Search Wikipedia for places directly
• Choose your language and how many nearby results to show

HOW IT WORKS
The app is online only: every search fetches fresh content directly from Wikipedia, and addresses come from the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service. There is no account and no signup. Your location is used only while you use the app, to find what is near you.

Narration uses the text to speech engine already on your Android device, so you can pick the voice and language you prefer in your system settings.

This app uses content from Wikipedia. Article text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 4.0 license and may be adapted for voice reading. Each article links back to its source and to the license, and every image links to its file description page listing the author and license. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors.
