Decent, But Controls Are Frustrating Does a good job with recognition, but the software controls will drive you crazy. 1) It does its own autofocus on your camera, which can lead to it mostly being out of focus and causing frustration. 2) Doesn't let you just copy the results. You have to use their selected output options. 3) This should use Google Translate as an output option, but doesn't. 4) No transliteration/Romanization for Japanese or Chinese.

We purchased Pen powers scanner pen to help with our son's reading. But this app won't start without access to contacts. There is no way that the functionality of the app needs this information. Uninstalled the app and returned the pen. Edit: Dev comment doesn't change anything. If specific niche functionality needs to be walled off due to insufficient permissions that's one thing. But locking the entire app behind the most sensitive permissions screams either "spyware" or a poorly written ap
