Expense Splitter: Settle Up

Somebody always pays first. Settle Up keeps score — log who paid for what, split it fairly, and see exactly who owes who, down to the cent.

Most group expense apps make everyone create an account and hope the whole trip signs up. Settle Up works the other way: one person keeps the ledger, everyone trusts the math. Every expense is split in exact integer cents — balances always sum to zero — and the settle-up plan clears the whole group in the fewest possible payments.

WHAT YOU GET
• Add "Pizza, Alex paid" in seconds — every balance updates the moment you save
• One glance answers the only question that matters: who owes who, and how much
• A settle-up plan that clears a six-person trip in two or three payments instead of fifteen
• Split with the whole group or only the people who were actually there
• Mark a payment as paid without touching history — the ledger stays auditable
• Separate ledgers for the flat, the trip, and the Friday dinner crowd

PERFECT FOR
• Roommates splitting rent, groceries and the electricity bill
• Trip groups who want the holiday to end with numbers, not arguments
• Couples keeping shared costs fair without merging their money
• Dinner regulars tired of "I'll get the next one" bookkeeping

WHY NOT JUST USE A SPREADSHEET?
A spreadsheet doesn't know that 100 split three ways isn't 33.33 each — the odd cent has to land somewhere. Settle Up does exact-remainder math so shares always add back up to the total, then works out the minimum set of payments to clear everyone. No formulas, no forgotten rows, no "wait, did we count the taxi?"

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
Your ledger lives on your iPhone. No account, no sign-ups for your friends, no bank linking — nothing leaves your device unless you export it. When you're ready, share a settle-up summary to the group chat or export the full ledger as CSV.

FULL ACCESS
Unlock everything with a weekly or yearly subscription, or a single lifetime purchase. Full access includes groups of any size, multiple separate ledgers, full CSV export of every expense, settlement and balance, and shareable settle-up summaries.

Add tonight's dinner before anyone forgets who paid — the balances will be waiting.
