Listen To The Light

Listen To The Light turns a place into an instrument.

Open a work, start walking, and the music assembles itself around you. Sounds are placed across a real map; as you approach one it rises, as you leave it falls away. Your route is the arrangement. Walk it differently tomorrow and you will hear a different piece.

Works come in three kinds:

MAPPED - composed for one specific place. Go to the spot on the map and walk it.
ANYWHERE - the whole composition re-centres on wherever you are, so you can walk it down your own street.
GENERATIVE - composed live as you move, never the same twice.

Put headphones on, press Begin, and put the phone in your pocket. The music keeps playing with the screen off, so you can look at where you are instead of at a screen.

Everything else stays out of the way. Save a work to your device and it plays with no signal at all. No account is needed to listen; sign in only if you want your saved works on more than one device. No ads, no subscriptions, nothing to buy.

From The Holladay Brothers, who have been composing music for specific places for over a decade, and who built this app to hold that work.

Note: this app uses your location continuously while a work is playing, including with the screen off. Continued use of GPS in the background can decrease battery life.
