By Joel Thielke, C.Ht. — the only hypnosis app in his catalog that tells you what to play next instead of leaving you at a shelf.
START WITH WEEK ONE
Twelve sessions out of the library are laid across four weeks, three to a week, and the next of them is named at the top of Home. Week one goes after cravings. Week two is about eating on purpose rather than on autopilot. Week three makes moving your body something you want instead of owe. Week four is the stretch most plans leave out: staying where you got to. None of it is locked to a date — play week four tonight if you like, and begin the whole thing again whenever you want. A session counts wherever you start it, so reaching a step through Browse or a playlist credits it just the same.
CRAVING SOS
A craving will not wait twenty minutes for an induction. One tap, high on Home, drops you into the middle of Cravings Buster — the patter is talking within a second, with nothing to set up and no menu in the way — and five minutes later it fades itself out and gives you your day back. It plays that session, so it opens as soon as Cravings Buster is yours.
THE WEIGH-IN LOG, IF YOU WANT ONE
One weight, one date, in whichever unit you think in, with a trend under them and the difference since your first entry. It lives in one file inside this app, flagged so that neither iCloud nor a computer backup copies it: this iPhone holds it and nothing else does. No sign-in, nothing uploaded, nothing in a support email. Leave it empty and the rest of the app behaves identically. Settings can add a bedtime nudge at an hour of your choosing; it stays silent until you turn it on.
111 SESSIONS, NOT A DIET SHEET
Eleven areas, and the body work sits inside them — Cravings Buster, Healthy Weight Loss, Metabolism Boost, Stay Slim Hypnosis, Thinner Thighs Hypnosis, Get in Beach Body Shape, Stop Hiding Weight, Anti-Aging Hypnosis, Be In The Moment, Love Your Workout, Runner's Hypnosis, Raise Your Energy Levels, The New You. Around those: confidence, calm, focus, sleep, relationships, money — because what usually comes apart is not the plan. Sleep Better plays free the first time you open the app.
YOU ASSEMBLE EVERY SESSION
• Six ways in — the original Short, Long and Sleep inductions, plus Beach (a calm walk along the shore), Speed (a fast way in) and Staircase (counting down step by step)
• Four ways out — Wake for daytime, Sleep to stay under until morning, Delay to sit in silence for five minutes before a gentle wake-up, or no ending at all
• Thirteen beds can sit behind the voice: the three rains, water, fire, insects, wind, snowfall, chimes, green noise, binaural beats and a 528 Hz tone, each on a volume of its own so the words stay in front
• Change the way in, the way out or the bed while a session is already running
• Zen mode — leave it half a minute and the controls melt away, leaving sky and voice
THE REST OF THE NIGHT
Queue several programs and they run as one. Leave Repeat on and it goes round until you stop it; set the timer and it closes with a soft fade. It plays on with the phone locked. A session played once lives on the phone and needs no signal.
WHAT YOU PAY FOR, YOU KEEP
No subscription, no trial, nothing that renews. Take a session at a time, or take all 111 together. Purchases ride along with your Apple Account onto every device you use, and a reinstall takes one tap: Restore Purchases.
WHO IS SPEAKING
Joel Thielke, C.Ht. narrates all 111 of these sessions. Eating, moving and the habits wrapped around both have been his subject since 2010; he trains other practitioners in the method, and Audible has published the same programs as audiobooks since 2014.
What is on offer is hypnotherapy: deep relaxation, and steady work on habits that are already yours. It is not a medical or a psychological treatment, and no reason to postpone one.
