AuTorch: Smart Flashlight

How many times have you left the flashlight on inside your pocket and drained your battery?

AuTorch is a flashlight that thinks for you. It uses your phone's accelerometer and proximity sensor to work out when you no longer need it, and switches off by itself.

IT REALLY DOES TURN ITSELF OFF
The flashlight switches off automatically when it detects any of these:
• You put the phone in your pocket (front camera pointing down)
• You laid the phone flat, screen up, with the LED against the surface
• You covered the proximity sensor with your hand or with fabric

And it stays on when you are actually using it: upright in normal position, or face down lighting upward.

YOU DECIDE HOW LONG
Two independent auto-offs, each with its own dial: by sensors (3 seconds to 5 minutes after you put it away) and by timer (1 minute to 4 hours from when you turn it on). Whichever comes first wins. The countdown shows on the lens, in the notification and on the widget, and a vibration pulse or a tone warns you in the last seconds.

HOME SCREEN WIDGET
Turn the flashlight on and off without opening the app. One tap from your home screen.

BRIGHTNESS CONTROL
On Android 13 and above, with compatible hardware, you can adjust the LED power. Perfect for reading at night without blinding yourself.

CONTROL FROM THE NOTIFICATION
While the light is on you get a notification showing the remaining time and a button to switch it off instantly.

SIGNALS: SOS, MORSE, STROBE AND BEACON
Call for help with SOS, type a word or phrase and the flashlight transmits it in Morse code, use the strobe with adjustable speed, or a beacon that flashes every 2 seconds. All of them turn off on their own, just like the flashlight.

TURNS BACK ON WHEN YOU FLIP IT (optional)
If the sensors turned it off and you pick the phone back up within a few seconds, it lights up again by itself.

WORKS OFFLINE
AuTorch never connects to the internet. No ads, no sign-up, and absolutely no data collection.

THREE LANGUAGES
English, Spanish and Portuguese, switchable inside the app.

PERMISSIONS
• Camera: only to turn on the flash LED. The app takes no photos or video and never accesses the camera image.
• Foreground service: to keep the flashlight on with the screen off.
