Update: I tried again recently, and apparently, you can now sign into the app without an internet connection. It must cache a hash of your password on device. Much better now. ----- PREVIOUS REVIEW----- No way to use offline. What if I need to decrypt without an internet connection on my mobile device? Please make a paid version of the app that doesn't require signing in just to decrypt.

My original review was written on October 4, 2020, and an update is due. Ax Crypt on PCs performs well as advertised. The team has added encryption and landscape rotation to the moble version. For the PC version alone, this app is worth the small yearly expense for kryptonite encryption. Currently, the mobile version has been rewritten due to Play Store requirements, and has some quirks. They're working on it, so 4.5 stars.

Doesn't encrypt folder, only a single file at a time!!! I have used Andrognito in the past, and you could encrypt folders with many items in the folder. UPDATE-AxCrypt answered my email almost instantly and explained how to add multiple files or folders. Great follow up. Thank You

The whole point of encryption, is about privacy and security. I don't want to create an online account, just to encrypt local files. I would not trust this developer.

Ax Crypt is useless on an Android phone. It does not work. I recommend it be removed from the Play Store until they can fix this problem. It's a great program on Windows. Why have a program on the Play Store if you know it's not going to work? This is what you get when you attempt to open the program. UNEXPECTED ERROR An unexpected error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object' occurred. Go their Help Page, and they tell you it won't work.

Can't open file in Excel app. When I use the Ax crypt app on my phone to encrypt an Excel file the Excel app won't open it giving the error message "This file has been moved, deleted or renamed".

Before you waste your time downloading this app and creating an account, be aware that the free version is only a viewer and does not encrypt files. You have to pay 5.99 per month are 59.99 per year to encrypt files.
