BreathRate

Your breath tells you more about your body than almost any other signal — and BreathRate makes it effortless to listen. In under a minute, measure your resting respiratory rate, watch it plotted against clinically recognized ranges, and build a private history that reveals how your calm (or your stress) is trending over time.

TWO WAYS TO MEASURE, ZERO GUESSWORK

Open BreathRate and choose the method that fits the moment. Tap Counter puts a gently pulsing breathing pacer on screen — inhale as it expands, tap the glowing button on every inhalation, and the app counts your breaths per minute for you. Prefer a hands-free approach? Switch to Abdomen Sensor mode, lie flat, place your phone face-up on your belly, and let your device's motion sensors read the natural rise and fall of your abdomen on a live wave display. Both methods land you back on your dashboard with a fresh, accurate BPM reading in seconds.

HOW IT WORKS

Open BreathRate and tap "Measure Rest BPM" from your dashboard.

Choose Tap Counter or Abdomen Sensor depending on your setting.

For Tap Counter: follow the pacing orb and tap once per inhalation until the app has enough data.

For Abdomen Sensor: lie flat, place your phone face-up on your belly, and stay still while the sensor reads your abdomen's rise and fall.

Instantly see your BPM, its health status, and how it compares to your recent average.

Review your respiratory trend chart and history log to understand your breathing over days and weeks.

PERFECT FOR

• Anyone curious what a "normal" breathing rate actually looks like for their own body
• People practicing meditation, yoga, or breathwork who want objective before/after numbers
• Those managing stress or anxiety who want an early, non-invasive signal to watch
• Athletes and fitness enthusiasts tracking recovery and resting physiology alongside heart rate
• Caregivers or curious family members who want a simple, no-hardware way to check breathing rate
• Anyone who wants a calming, focused ritual — a minute of mindful breathing that also produces useful data

PRIVACY & TRUST

BreathRate stores every measurement locally on your device. There are no accounts to create, no cloud sync required, and no breathing data leaves your phone unless you choose to export or share it yourself. The Abdomen Sensor mode uses only your phone's built-in motion sensors — never the camera or microphone — and no third-party trackers or ad networks are bundled into the app. Your breath, your data, your device.

Whether you're chasing a moment of calm or building a long-term picture of your respiratory health, BreathRate turns one of the body's most overlooked vital signs into something you can actually see, track, and understand.
