Description

Chinese No Pain is a free, ad-free app for anyone who wants to start learning Chinese from scratch and gradually move from study flashcards to the language they encounter in everyday life.

It brings together a clear beginner pathway, vocabulary collections by level and topic, smart review, short daily sessions, varied training modes, live camera translation, and Chinese speech recognition.

Start with the Beginner Path

Thirteen sections and 105 short lessons introduce essential words, phrases, and sentence patterns without overwhelming you. Each lesson is followed by practice, and your progress is saved so you can continue from the right place at any time.

Understand words instead of memorizing translations

Every word card includes:

• Chinese characters;
• pinyin with tone marks;
• translation;
• pronunciation.

Many words also include illustrations, simple explanations, radical and character breakdowns, examples, and related words. You can also add personal notes to any word.

Learn vocabulary by level and topic

Choose from ready-made collections:

• HSK 1–6;
• Top 100, Top 300, and Top 500 frequent words;
• themed vocabulary groups for conversation, travel, food, study, work, time, and everyday situations.

Add words to your library, mark favorites, and learn in manageable batches.

Turn the Chinese around you into study material

Point your camera at a menu, sign, package, or any other Chinese text. The app recognizes the text and displays translations directly over the camera view. You can freeze the frame, open individual words, and save the full recognized text.

You can also import a photo or screenshot containing Chinese text.

Record a short piece of spoken Chinese through the microphone. Chinese No Pain will create a transcript, show a translation, and highlight words you can open or add to your library.

Save and read texts

Recognized materials can be saved and read later in a dedicated reader:

• tap Chinese words;
• view pinyin and translations;
• listen to the text;
• continue reading from where you left off;
• start a practice session with words from the text.

Study for 5, 10, or 20 minutes

You do not need to decide what to review every time. Choose a session length, and the app will build a session from reviews, weak areas, sentences, pronunciation, and writing.

You can also choose from dedicated training modes:

• translation and character recognition;
• pinyin and listening;
• pronunciation;
• writing with tracing or Blank Canvas mode;
• matching pairs;
• the Bubbles game mode;
• Sprint and Audio Sprint;
• practice with weak or favorite words.

Review at the right time and track your progress

Words return for review when it is most useful for long-term memory. The app helps you track:

Discover something new every day

Daily Discovery brings you a short new article about the Chinese language or culture each day. It is not a lesson or an exercise, but a small piece of useful reading. Chinese words inside the article can be opened as word cards.
