Curtain: Privacy Screen Guard

Curtain is privacy for your keyboard. Type in public. Keep it yours.

The moment your keyboard opens, a soft curtain falls over everything above it, so the person next to you on the train, the bus, in a queue or in an open office can't read your chat. It is a privacy screen in software: your own text stays faintly readable, while a shoulder-surfing neighbour sees only a dim shade.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Open your keyboard. A small pill docks on its edge, clear of your send button.
2. Tap Veil to cover everything above the keyboard, or Slit to leave only the line you type in. Tap the other to switch, or the same one again to lift it.
3. Hold anywhere to peek. Let go and it falls again. Close the keyboard and the curtain lifts.

WHAT YOU GET
• Works with any keyboard. Curtain does not replace your keyboard. It sits on the one you already use, such as Gboard, Samsung Keyboard or SwiftKey, and remembers where you parked the pill in each app.
• Hold to peek. Press and hold on the curtain to lift it for a moment, or tap the eye for three seconds. Optional touch-through lets you use the app underneath.
• Password fields cover themselves. Curtain notices the password flag on a field and falls on its own, so PINs and passwords stay private.
• Whole-screen curtain. No keyboard needed: cover the whole screen from the notification, a Quick Settings tile or the home screen widget.
• Put the controls away. Drag the pill onto Hide here for an hour, the rest of the day or a day. The power button in Curtain brings it back.
• Tells you if it stops. If Android switches Curtain off or closes it, you get a clear card and one notification with a Turn on button.
• Your colour, your opacity. Choose the curtain colour and how opaque it is, up to a fully dark screen.
• Stays on after a restart, with a per-brand guide for phones that stop background apps.
• Speaks 12 languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu and Marathi.

A one-time purchase with a 14-day free trial. Slit mode covers everything except the line you are typing in. Tilt to curtain drops it when you turn the phone away or face down. HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT DOES
Curtain is screen privacy in software, not a privacy screen guard or a polarising filter. It hides your screen from a glance over your shoulder. It does not block screenshots, screen recordings or a camera pointed at your phone.

WHY CURTAIN ASKS FOR THE ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE
Android only tells an app where the keyboard is, and when it opens or closes, through its accessibility service. Curtain uses that service for one job: covering the part of the screen above your keyboard while you type. It reads:
• where the keyboard sits on screen, so the curtain stops right above it;
• which app is in front, so per-app pill positions and your auto and skip lists can apply;
• whether the focused field is a password field, and for slit mode the size and position of that field.
Curtain never reads or stores what you type, what is inside a field, the contents of other apps, or your notifications. It does not tap, swipe or type for you and does not change your settings. The service stays off until you switch it on in Android settings, after a plain-language explanation inside the app, and you can switch it off there at any time. Curtain also needs the "Display over other apps" permission to draw the curtain and the pill.

PRIVACY
Curtain has no account. Usage and crash statistics help us see which setup steps trip people up and fix crashes. They carry only fixed words and coarse ranges, never what you type, screen contents or which apps you pick, and you can turn them off in Settings with "Share usage and crash data". Recent changes:
The mode you pick on Home now shapes the keyboard controls: Veil, Slit or Screen is the main button, and the small button switches to the other quick choice. Screen covers the keyboard too, and Auto drops the curtain by itself in every app until you choose apps. Fixes a curtain that sometimes stayed invisible after setup.
