Description
The long-awaited 2.0 release of "Drivers Ed" is immediately available!
DriversEd was designed to help me track my daughter's driving time while she has her learner's permit.
Using "Drivers Ed", I can easily enter her information, and then immediately begin tracking her progress as she is driving.
After I added her as a driver, I just need click on her name (Susanna), then click "Start Driving" every time we go out for an instructional driving "lesson". The display counts down the hours, minutes, and seconds as she drives. When we get home, I click "Stop Driving" and her time is stored in the built-in database.
When the timer reaches 00:00:00, she is ready to apply for her license!
This app is useful not only for parents teaching their children to drive, but also for any "Drivers Ed" instructor trying to keep track of multiple drivers simultaneously. Of course, only one student can actually be driving at any given time, and the app includes a provision for this. If another student starts driving, it causes the previous driver's time to stop being tracked.
As a bonus, the program also tracks the Nighttime driving hours she is accumulating. In our state, she needs 15 hours of night driving (out of the total). The total number of hours needed and the total number of nighttime hours are automatically set based on our location (State), but these values can be overridden by using shared preference parameters that are settable in the program.
*NEW* in v 2.0 -- by popular demand, the program now includes Inclement Weather tracking for Pennsylvania -- this is accomplished by asking the user if the driving session qualifies as an Inclement Weather driving session if the student is located in PA.
Some users were having trouble finding the old menu-based features and so Drivers Ed v2.0 now includes buttons with graphics for each program function, making the program much easier to use!
In addition, we have added the capability to backup/restore program data to the SD-CARD (note: this requires the android permission WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE).
DriversEd also includes a reporting capability. At any time, I can bring up the Driving Report card and then email it to my daughter right from my phone.
There is even a way to send diagnostics information to PC Lifesavers in case something goes wrong with the program!
DriversEd continues to handle any number of student drivers simultaneously!
