Works extremely well, I even was able to watch movies stored on my synology here in nevada, while I was on vacation in Japan, anyone has issues probably either didn't set it up correctly, or doesn't have sufficient internet connection to the server

★★★★☆ Adrien Foulon · Jul 26, 2023

The app is really nice but recently some features stopped working like the search, also for some reason the app cannot connect by default to a reverse proxy (which is a supported feature), I had to use a network monitoring tool to see that it was trying to connect to port 5001 (https) or 5000 (http) of the specified address by default, so you have to specify the port (443 or 80) in the address for a reverse proxy. The standard says it should be the other way around

★★★★★ Magdalena Metlická · Dec 26, 2022

I am very happy with the app, does its job well. However, the GUI could be more intuitive - especially search and filtering by criteria, such as genre, and selecting another media file for the same movie title. It is there, but somewhat hidden. I could use search & filtering by other tags, such as movie language, not just a country of origin, having bilingual movie collection.

The official video app ... so why isn't it maintained? When you try to access video on your NAS over cellular, the App insists that it has access to all LOCAL files. Opening settings results in a list of applications (???) and you have to select absolutely all of them, so you can play a video on your REMOTE NAS!!! If you go into Settings>Apps>Permissions and grant access to Photos and Videos, Android states that it also has to give permissions to Music and Audio. WHY ARE PERMISSIONS SO BAD?

★☆☆☆☆ Lucas Felix · Dec 27, 2023

Terrible application, you can't stream anything without installing a 3rd party application. Also, the user experience with the logging process is just terrible. Unfortunately, we bought a Synology NAS because of the software, but this is not worth it, better install something else instead like jellyfin or plex.

★☆☆☆☆ Massimo Buonaiuto · Dec 21, 2022

A lot of potential features that often do not work. The search on Android Tv does not work: I click on my mobile on the text box, type the name of the movie, the result does not come out. Another problem: you cannot download subtitles or locate in the synology. Often it freezes, and I cannot see movies any more unless I move forward the timeline. I cannot delete movies I saw. The scraper is not reliable.
