Eichelmann 2018 präsentiert 939 Weingüter und über 11.000 Weine, die vom bewährten Verkoster-Team ausgewählt wurden. Die Weine werden im international üblichen 100-Punkte-System bewertet, das Gerhard Eichelmann in Deutschland eingeführt hatte, dazu findet man Preis- und Alkoholangaben, Weine mit besonders gutem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis sind hervorgehoben. Jedes Weingut wird für seine Gesamtleistung mit 1 bis 5 Sternen eingestuft. Wichtig für den Verbraucher ist, dass dabei nicht nur Spitzenerzeugnisse vorgestellt und zur Betriebsbewertung herangezogen werden, sondern alle Weine, auch die Einstiegsqualitäten.

„Reich-Ranicki für Weingüter und Weine“ urteilte der Hessische Rundfunk, „der umfassendste und kritischste Guide zu Deutschlands Weinen“ die ZEIT über vorausgegangenen Ausgaben. Neben der Buch-Ausgabe (gebunden, 29,95 €) gibt es den Eichelmann 2018 auch als App, die in der Vollversion 27,99 € kostet.
