Okay, 1 more time. I'm changing and giving stars back. The last 4 times I used the app with the mug... it has worked, without needing to be paired, again and again. Good job. I still love the cup, never stopped.

Get MUG MONITOR FOR EMBER! Update 9-2026: I finally got a SS Ember after microwaving the 1st one back in 2017. I was going to try the app again, but found MUG MONITOR FOR EMBER! It works great so far! Original review from 2017: Finicky. I turned on Bluetooth & GPS (why is location required?), it wouldn't connect. Closing swipe screens, I connected using the basic connect option in the app. Upgrade of firmware took 8 attempts: Have mug empty, put mug close to top of phone, keep trying.

The app is fine, the mug is great. Occasional problems connecting but usually resolves with some combo of app restart and manual button push. I've only re-paired the mug once in about a year. I find it MUCH easier to control whether the mug is on or off with the app than the button.

No issues with the mug, but this app is pure garbage. Like others have stated, the pairing issue is a huge bug.

Terrible app makes mug useless. I can't believe I spent $100 on a coffee mug that doesn't work any different that the many free mugs I have. If you can get the mug to connect it doesn't stay connected for the next day. Start over.

This is my second Ember cup, both as gifts. First cup worked okay but would not stay on after approx 1.5 hours. Then just stopped charging. I do like being able to keep my coffee warm. However, the Bluetooth disconnects before my second cup. I spend way too much time trying to get it to reconnect or connect every morning. This time it wants access to all my contacts and calls. WHY? No. If I say no, it won't pair. It appears having my contacts is more important to this company than warming coffee
