I've rejoined after being with Starling, and I'm struggling to see why First Direct has such a bad reputation on the Play Store. I find the app easy to use and straightforward. It may not have all the bells and whistles of Starling, but it has everything I need. I originally left because of overseas card fees, but now they're gone, I'm happy to be back. Great savings rates too.

Paying in checks on this app are a joke. It will not accept checks sent to you from business' which are always bigger than those from your personal check book. Constant errors about size etc. I mean there must be literally nobody that sends personal checks from their little old check book any more which means this part of the app never, and I mean NEVER works. I've spent ages on multiple occasions trying to get this bl**dy thing to work, to no avail

Awful app, trying to register but selfie photo fails no matter what. Seems to be a common issue when using an S23. Have given up and will bank elsewhere!

Poorly developed banking app which is utterly basic and displays as its headline figure, your balance before pending so what you think you have in your account isn't what you really have in it. I switched from Halifax and from a mobile app perspective it's like going back to the Stone Age. Avoid if you like a modern user-friendly interface.
