Food Cost Calculator

Food Cost Calculator shows what one portion of a dish really costs you, and what you need to charge for it.

It is made for home cooks who sell what they make, small cafés, food trucks and caterers. You enter what you buy and what you pay; the app does the arithmetic every time a price or a recipe changes — a reliable betera for your kitchen maths.

YOUR INGREDIENT CATALOGUE
• Add each ingredient with its pack size and the price you pay: by weight (g, kg), by volume (ml, l) or by the piece.
• Set a usable share for anything you peel, trim or drain, so waste is part of the cost.
• Tell the app what one litre or one piece weighs and recipes can use grams for it.
• Every new price is kept. Each ingredient has a price history with a chart, the lowest, average and highest price, and the change since the last purchase — your betera against supplier price swings.

RECIPES THAT COST THEMSELVES
• Build a recipe from your catalogue with a quantity for each ingredient.
• See the cost per portion and per batch, the share of each ingredient, and how much you need to buy.
• Add the costs that are not ingredients: packaging, energy, labour and delivery, per portion or per batch. Labour can be entered as minutes at an hourly rate, energy as appliance power and running time.
• Change the number of portions and all quantities and costs are recalculated. Save the new size if you want to keep it.

THE PRICE TO CHARGE
• Choose a target margin or a target markup and get a recommended selling price, rounded up to the step you prefer.
• Or type your own menu price and see the profit, margin, markup and food cost percentage it gives.
• VAT is optional: set your rate, and the app shows the price with and without VAT. If you reclaim VAT, it is taken out of your purchase prices.
• Add how many portions you sell in a week to see profit per week and per month.

COMPARE AND DECIDE
• Create variants of a recipe, for example butter or margarine, and compare cost, price and profit side by side, with the ingredients that make the difference.
• Insights rank your dishes by profit, margin and food cost, and show which ingredients carry the cost of your whole menu.
• Compare two dates to see what supplier price changes did to each dish — a real betera for menu decisions.
• A quick calculator gives a price from a cost without a recipe.

EXPORT
• Share a costing sheet for any recipe as PDF or CSV.
• Export the menu overview, the ingredient catalogue and the full price history.
• Save a backup file and restore it on this or another phone.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Everything is stored on your phone. There is no account and no cloud.
• The app does not use the internet. No adverts, no tracking, no notifications.
• Free, with every feature included. No subscription and no in-app purchases.

Amounts are in euros, units are metric and dates are shown as day.month.year. A "How costing works" page inside the app explains every formula with a worked example, so you can check any figure by hand.
