Comments on Google Fit: Activity Tracking for Android
★★★★☆Ben Myers· Jun 19, 2026
Useful for me, but... Fit does a great job of tracking my physical activity, but its calculations of calories expended are so far beyond realistic. I could never burn the calories it claims I burned because it is physically impossible. The calorie counting part of this app needs a lot more work to make it realistic. I would also like to option to clear out the accumulated daily data when I go hiking and climbing on rocks.

UPDATED June 2026: thank you for the information on the latest update. Used app for years, Grateful for its unique feature-Heart Points. It insures my heart rate is up - no matter what the workout or walks. So essential for all who have relied on this app for their health monitoring. Really hope they will "grandfather in" long time users and allow it to work as a standalone unsupported app on device, please. Not just any app - it's for our health & thus essential.

Steps, Heart points and distance readings are always totally wrong.

Horrible. Customization and tracking is restricted. Lost all data from fitbit. Unable to use app. Going to look for a new smartwatch

The step tracking appears to be inaccurate. I noticed that while I was sitting in an autorickshaw, the app continued to count steps and recorded speeds of around 20–35 km/h. It is not physically possible to walk at these speeds, so the app is likely counting vehicle movement as steps. Please improve the step detection and filtering of vehicle movements to provide more accurate activity data.

Double counting steps because I can't select what data sources to include. There's two google apps that you need. Google Fit and Google Health Connect. They don't really explain any of this and it's a hassle every time I upgrade phones because the read/write permissions reset. I only use this app to sync my garmin steps to other apps unsupported by garmin.
