Works as described This app backed up all my SMS & MMS messages to the SD card. After a factory reset, I was able to restore both SMS and MMS messages and the videos and pictures were restored as well. Awesome job with this app.

Retter meiner Threads Wer wie ich seine SMS und MMS gerne auf eine neues Telefon mitnehmen möchte, wird Probleme haben, die zu überführen. Einige Apps bewerben dies, z.B. SMS Backup+, Handcent SMS pro (bezahlt, online), MyBackup Pro (Bezahlt, online) und SMS Backup & Restore. Die meisten können MMS zwar sichern, aber nicht restaurieren - was ich wirklich witzig fand. MyBackup konnte einen Teil restaurieren, aber einige Bilder fehlten und die Reihenfolge der Nachrichten in den Threads stimmte nicht mehr. Um zum Ende zu kommen: "Message Sync" von Philipp Schlegel kann alle SMS und MMS in ein XML-File sichern und es auf einem anderen Gerät wieder restaurieren. Diese App findet man leider nicht gut, weil sie kein SMS oder MMS im Titel trägt. War dann alles da, auch der Thread mit 300+ Nachrichten und Dutzenden von eingebetteten Bildern und Filmen :)

Backup seemed to work. File is readable on desktop from phone. Restore says, "File not correct document type! Mandatory node missing".

Mangles punctuation Would be a 5 star bit of brilliance except that it mangles text messages with commas, ampersands, and probably any other XML special characters. What good is a backup and restore tool that grabs and restores everything quickly and handles MMS properly if it mangles half your messages?

Misleading The synchronize option does not merge the phone messages with the backup file; rather it overwrites the backup file with the messages on the phone. Lost a bunch of messages - thankfully I didn't rely on this app alone.
