My Location Timeline & History

My Location Timeline is a private location history app and timeline viewer. It keeps an automatic diary of where you go, and it lets you import and view the Google Maps Timeline history you already have. Everything is recorded, imported and stored only on your phone.

BRING YOUR GOOGLE MAPS TIMELINE WITH YOU
Want a separate, private place to keep and browse years of Timeline history? Export it on your phone (Settings → Location → Location services → Timeline → Export Timeline data; menu names may vary by phone) and import the JSON file. Older Google Takeout Semantic Location History monthly JSON files work too, including those inside a Takeout .zip. iPhone exports and raw Records.json exports are not currently supported. You can also share a JSON or ZIP file straight into the app from a compatible file app.
The file is read on this phone and nothing is uploaded. Imported days appear in the same day-by-day timeline as your new recordings, so old trips and today's commute sit side by side. Deleting an import is always free.

YOUR HISTORY IS STORED ON YOUR PHONE
- No app account or automatic cloud sync. You choose whether and where to export files.
- No ads and no analytics - the app contains no tracking SDKs.
- Recording, importing and browsing work offline. Buying or restoring Pro uses Google Play.
- App data is excluded from cloud backup and device transfer.
- Recording runs only while you keep it switched on. A recording notification is shown when notifications are enabled.
- Uninstalling deletes the history stored inside the app. Original import files and exported copies remain wherever you saved them.

FREE AND PRO
Free: record your days, import supported files, see a summary of all imported history, browse the most recent seven days relative to today, and preview up to three automatically selected older imported days. For an older archive, most dates require Pro; the summary and sample days are free. Imported history is not automatically deleted. Free recordings are kept for 90 days, then deleted. Timeline Pro, a single one-time purchase, keeps your recorded history, unlocks all retained recorded and imported days, and adds GPX/CSV export of your recorded days. No subscriptions.

PERMISSIONS, HONESTLY
The app asks for location ("Allow all the time" enables automatic recording), physical activity (to detect when a journey starts and ends) and notifications (for the recording notice). A clear disclosure is shown in the app before any permission is requested. Location data is used to build your on-device timeline. The app does not automatically upload or share your history; exports are initiated by you.

- On a fresh install, Home offers Import and Start recording side by side.
- After an import, the app opens your newest imported day, and History jumps to the month that has data. Tap the month title to jump to any year or month.
- Exports with no visits or trips now stop cleanly instead of importing nothing.
