My Location Timeline

My Location Timeline is a private, automatic diary of where you go - recorded and stored only on your phone.

Turn on recording once, and the app quietly builds your personal timeline: the places you stayed, the journeys between them, and the routes you took - day by day.

Already have years of Google Maps Timeline history? Export it on your phone (Settings → Location → Location services → Timeline → Export Timeline data), or use an older Google Takeout archive (.zip), and import it.
The file is read on this phone and nothing is uploaded: the app has no account, no ads and no analytics. Importing is free, and so is a summary of all of it, your last 7 days and up to three older sample days. Timeline Pro, one payment, opens every imported day. Deleting an import is always free.

PERMISSIONS, HONESTLY
The app asks for location ("Allow all the time" enables automatic recording), physical activity (to detect when a journey starts and ends) and notifications (for the recording notice). A clear disclosure is shown in the app before any permission is requested. Location data is used only to build your on-device timeline - it is never shared with anyone.

Recent changes:
Import more of your Google Maps Timeline:
• Older Google Takeout location history now imports too: monthly Semantic Location History files or the whole Takeout .zip (read in memory, nothing unpacked).
• Share a Timeline file to the app straight from your Files app.
• For older Takeout files, pick which time zone to show them in before importing.
• Imported place names and addresses are kept; deleting an import removes them.
Everything stays on your phone.
