By Dog_Foot, from Google Play“Map your N-400 steps, check M-477 documents, sweep your bag on interview day”
Description by Dog_Foot Written by the developer, not by AppBrain. Click to read.
You gathered your documents weeks ago. Whether each one is actually in your bag is a question for the front door, and it is the only question the interview day screen asks. The documents every applicant brings show up on their own, and the "if it applies to you" ones join them only if you checked them on your Documents list. Tap each document as it goes in and the bar at the top fills. When the last one is packed, a card reminds you to look at your interview notice once more for the time and place. Afterward you can reset the bag check and run it again.
Kept on your phone, not on a server
What you enter in OathTrail (the stage you have reached, your interview date, the M-477 documents you checked off, and what went into your bag) is stored on this phone. The app was built to run without a server or a sign-up, so it has nowhere to send that record. When you tap an official source, the USCIS page opens in your browser, outside the app. Reminder notifications are worded so that words like citizenship or interview stay off your lock screen. Settings has an Erase all data option that wipes the whole record whenever you decide. Every feature is included, and there are no ads or in-app purchases: the app has nothing to sell, so it has no reason to gather anything about you.
The steps ahead, inked on a map
Choose the stage you are at and enter your interview date, and every step between you and the oath ceremony is inked across a map like a hiking trail. A marker shows where you stand, and the ceremony flag waits at the summit. Mark a stage complete and the next stretch draws itself in. Still waiting for your interview notice? Your stage alone is enough to draw the trail, and the date can go in whenever it arrives. The days remaining are counted fresh from the clock each time you open the app, so the number stays right after midnight and in a different time zone.
Every document by its official name, from the M-477 list
The document guidance USCIS publishes is set out as a checklist, each item under its official name. Items on the list can open the official source they are based on, right from the item. The "if it applies to you" documents are yours to choose; the app does not pick them for you. Mark an item as not applicable and it fades and drops out of the count. Anything the list is missing, you can add yourself.
On to the oath ceremony
The interview is not the last step. Oath ceremony preparation and the original English text of the Oath of Allegiance follow in the same flow. Form names, civics questions and the oath are kept in English as written, because they need to match the wording on your real paperwork.
A civics quiz on the side, and only that
Practice ten questions at a time and go back over the ones you missed. Choose your test version (2008 or 2025), or practice the questions for applicants 65 or older who have been permanent residents for 20 years or more. This is not trying to be another quiz app; it is a quick review for the moments between your other steps.
Bigger text whenever you need it
Many people applying for naturalization are older. Raise the font size in your phone's settings and OathTrail grows with it, and the screens are built so dates and official document names stay whole even at the largest size. It follows your phone's dark theme and reduced-motion setting, and works with TalkBack.
OathTrail is not legal advice. It is an independent app, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of USCIS or any government agency. It organizes publicly available official process information so you can check it off; it does not assess whether you qualify, estimate when you will get a decision, or fill out forms for you. Procedures can change, so check the details at the official source: https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship

First release.
Enter your stage and interview date, and the steps left before the oath ceremony are drawn as a trail on a map. Mark a stage as reached and the next stretch appears. No notice yet? It still draws from your stage alone.
The checklist uses the document list USCIS publishes, under official names. On interview morning, the Interview Day Bag Check confirms in one pass what actually went into the bag.
Stays on this phone. No account, no server, nothing sent over the internet.
