Octopus Energy Wizard

Octopus Energy Wizard is an app designed to help Octopus Energy customers easily compare their electricity usage.

Easy to Use and Always Improving: Octopus Wizard is simple to navigate and is regularly updated with new features to enhance your energy management experience.

The app has four tabs, Agile Octopus, historic electricity usage, the compare tab and the settings tab.

On the first tab, Agile Octopus Energy you can view future and historic Octopus Energy Agile electricity rates, broken down into half-hourly intervals. When viewing the future Octopus Energy rates the app also works out when it is cheapest to run your appliances based on their run times, for example, if you want to charge your car and estimate it will take 6 hours, the app will tell you when the cheapest time on the Agile tariff is to start the charge.

On the second tab, historic electricity usage, you can see how much electricity you have used in the past 30, 90 or 365 days broken down per day with summaries for 7, 30, 90 and 365 days. The breakdown shows an estimate of how much you have paid per kWh and in total, and a comparison to any other Octopus Energy tariff currently available in your area (you choose). For example, if you are on Octopus Intelligent Go and want to compare this to Octopus Agile you can do so and the app will tell you which tariff would have been cheapest for you.

On the third tab, the compare tab, you can compare any two tariffs of your choice, for example, if you are on Octopus Intelligent Go but want to compare Octopus Agile with their flexible tariff based on your electricity usage you can do so. You can also compare on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

On the final tab, the settings tab, you can change the settings so the comparison app suits you. You can change the look and feel of the charts and tables and choose two or three decimal points (as Octopus Energy reports electricity usage in more than two decimal points). You can also choose how many days you would like to view in the history tab and set the theme of the app to light or dark mode. Finally, if you want you can buy Hayley a coffee to say thanks for the app and to keep her coding, this is of course entirely optional, the app is free to use.

Tariff and data availability.

Octopus Energy Wizard tries to download all the data you ask for. But, if your electricity usage history doesn't go back that far, or your chosen tariff doesn't cover the full period, you'll only see data for your usage period or from the start date onwards.

We are always looking to improve the Octopus Energy Wizard app and add new features, if you would like anything added just ask and we will see if we can add it to a future version.

Octopus Energy Wizard is a separate app (not made by Octopus Energy) that helps you compare Octopus Energy tariffs using your smart meter data to find the best deal for you.
