Description
Pacemaker is a simple but powerful app for joggers of all levels from novice to experienced marathon runner. It uses your phone's GPS to monitor your speed and gives you voice feedback to keep you moving at your target speed. Experienced runners can use Pacemaker to monitor and record their workouts and it is especially useful for those who want to increase their performance. For novice joggers, or those wanting to start jogging, the three phase walk-jog-run interval training program is the easiest way to get you from 0 to 5k in just a few weeks.
Please note that Pacemaker uses GPS in the background. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Some people are going to be put off by the metric system, erratic behavior, or constant conflicting nagging. But I made it work for me and am seeing significant improvements in my run times. Here's how I did it. 1) Do the work in imperial units (mph) ahead of time and then convert it to metric for the app. 2) I didn't care about running too fast, so this method sets a minimum pace and keeps you there. 3) Think of the target minimum pace you want to run. 4) Set the speed in the app at .5 mph (.8 kph) above your minimum. 5) Set the speed tolerance to 1 mph (1.6 kph). 6) Set the minimum nag time at the highest - 60 seconds. 7) Ignore all nags prompting you to slow down (unless you get like 4 or more in rapid succession). I've found that the gps doesn't work well enough to track my pace every second that accurately, so a wide speed tolerance is necessary. Otherwise the voice prompts were just constant and all over the board. The first couple of times I tried this app, it was annoying, and I gave up and turned it off after a couple of minutes. Then I figured out this approach. This approach nags me only when I fall below my pace. I used the app 3 times in row at my target. Then, I set my speed to +.1 kph. And I shaved a full minute off my time for 3.4 miles. I was shocked and amazed. Thanks!!!!!
