Good app for its purpose, sometimes denies to work properly or takes long to do chosen action. Setting up time length is kinda hastle to scroll minutes for long, and sometimes it disappears and need to scroll for long again... We've already got used to these bugs... But now, you want to pay for the usage of the app very much (a day salary in our country), it looks like we need to look for a better and cheaper app. It's a pity, we were already used to this one. 🥺

This app has worked in local wi-fi mode just fine for 7 years until April 1, 2025. I did not like their attempt to collect a fee for remote access, so I opted for local only. Samsung did an auto-update on 4/01/25 on my phone (Android 15) that was not compatible with the Rain Machine app. I could not get beyond the app screen that lists the RM devices!!! I almost gave up and replaced the RM. Then, I tried access from an older phone in wi-fi local mode ... worked just fine! Hope this helps you

App Died but local access works! Just goto it's IP address on a web browser when you're on the same network (aka at home on Wi-Fi). Everything works perfectly fine doing it that way!

My experience is much like the others -- worked great for years (I installed this in 2014) until they started charging for remote access. Fine, I get it, they have infrastructure costs. But the irritating part is that the app will no longer connect to the controller via a direct connection, whether you're on the same network directly, connecting via VPN, etc... I liked the idea of supporting Rain Machine when they were running a good business. But now? Don't waste your money.

Bait and switch. I regret putting in the effort to set this up ~10 years ago. It used to lead the pack until it changed it's model and forces a subscription on you after the promise of free remote access, then local access only, and now forced subscription for even local. Now just gives a splash page for a free trial. I wish I could get my money back, but now I have to buy from a different company and put the rain machine in the landfill.

Worked great when first installed. Now, won't connect locally and even the remote connection keeps getting worse. I can't even access my watering schedule now. Looks like I need a new device soon. Guess which brand I won't be buying.
