Description
Sailboat Results is an aid to Race Officers to facilitate lap and finish time recording for sailboat races.
It provides powerful features but is simple to use. The fundamental concept is to log competitors at the end of each lap by tapping that competitor’s LAP button on the device as they sail through the start/finish line recording their lap completion and the time, i.e. an electronic lap recording sheet.
Its features include: • Multiple series support with add, edit and delete series. • Multiple races per series with add, edit and delete races. • Easy individual competitor entry either on race sheet or by dialog. • Mass entry of competitors, o either from a pre-defined file, o or from the current series competitors. • Countdown to race start, allowing the RO to focus on the actual start. • One-tap lap time recording with audible confirmation. • Predictive arrival time sequencing, so the competitors expected next are near the top of the list. • Autocomplete search on sail no. to easily find competitors in large fleets. • Multiple fleet support with staggered start times. • Auto selection of non-competitors at end of first lap. • Auto-hide or delete DNCs so the list is not cluttered with non-competitors. • General recall function. • Manual sequencing for quick lap recording. • Landscape and Portrait screen support. • Lap time saving for crowded finishes. • Portsmouth Yardstick compatible rating systems. • Results calculation by fleet and combined. • ISAF Scoring abbreviation support. • Export results in Sailwave compatible format. • Context sensitive help / how-to. • Increased competitor detail on tablets.
The app runs on phones and tablets, the main difference being the number of competitors shown on the screen at once. Tablets also show more detail on the individual competitors.

The default ratings table is using the data from the RYA’s Portsmouth Yardstick. There are instructions for adapting to other ratings system that are based on the same principles as the Portsmouth Yardstick. We would welcome requests to incorporate other ratings systems.
Recent changes: PY Table updated to 2019 version from the RYA Issue with importing a previously exported series resolved. Elapsed time handling improved, can now edit times and laptimes in elapsed form. Now prevent registering a lap time for fleets who haven't started.

This is a great app. Our race team currently consists of three people. One to observe the boats crossing the line, one to call out the time and the other to note the time. This app replaces all these roles with a tap of the screen. I particularly like the feature that places the next expected boat to the top of the list. The app is reasonably intuitive to use, and I found the accompanying help sections and YouTube tutorials to be very informative. Recommended.
