I was doubting it but then I just tapp and it works. It's been working 💪 since. I recommend that your phone is up-to-date with its software updates. Also your phone must be NFC compatible. I have the metro tap app open on the manage cards with the one card on phone and just tap. It really works 💪 tap away hehe

Leaving a review for those who experience issues with their digital tap card. Once or twice a year, for some reason the card stops working. "Bad authentication ". EASY fix! Go to the digital tap card, click remove from device, then click remove. Uninstall the app then reinstall it. Last steps are to log in and select "download to device". Your card and balance will be there. If you created a new card and did not remove it before uninstalling, contact support and ask for the balance to transfer.

Stay away if you're an android user! The app randomly toggles on and opens from time to time. Why would it open without my explicit permission? Sketchy. Even worse, the app completely bricked my digital tap card. The (very kind) customer service rep told me that the android version will sometimes deactivate tap cards (she didn't know why.) Now I need to obtain a new card and call customer service to transfer the funds over. Why does Metro fail to have a functional android app in 2026?

As of 3/16/26 tap card app has been down It's difficult to keep using the excuse of tap card unable to add funds to the bus driver. I'm sure they don't like giving courtesy rides, and I'm embarrassed to keep asking for these rides when I'm a working man and could afford my bus fare however I usually always use the app for bus fare since I don't use fiat currencies I operate under Article 1 Sec 10 Clause 1 of the US Constitution

Worst app ever made. Bugs and glitches non-stop, can't add funds due to horrible payment system, no updates available. 0 stars tbh. You're better off getting a physical card and reloading at payment terminals than dealing w this waste of an app
