Description
Energy is the lifeblood of our society and economy and as the National Energy System Operator, we operate the electricity system in real time and plan the future of the gas and electricity networks.
In our role as the operator of the electricity system, we have an ambition to be able to operate GBs electricity network carbon free by 2025.
The NESO app allows you to monitor the generation types that make up your electricity supply and see when the cleanest time to use electricity will be. You can see the carbon impact level of electricity generation, how your region compares to others in GB and be notified when a record towards decarbonisation breaks.
Information on the operation of the gas system can be found in the National Gas app, available on Android.

Interesting app for checking the UK's or UK region's electricity generation mix at a given point in time. It could be greatly improved by increasing the amount of data on offer, for example the generation mix over the day/week/month/year pie chart, and energy mix over the past 24 hours line graph. Usability needs improving, as it is not immediately clear how to close pop up cards, as there is no close button on the cards and the back button does not work (you have to swipe them to the left).

Fantastic app - thanks! Is it possible to run the forecast on a regional basis? Clearly lots of differences regionally, so this would be useful to know. Could you also set up alerts for users to know when carbon intensity moves in and out of high and low phases for your local area?

The updated colors are rubbish. As someone else said, too many similar making it hard to distinguish. Why green for polluting bio, and blackish for wind and solar? No history graphs, so you can see changes over the day, week, month. So many better apps and webpages out there.

Recent update has made this hard to see & understand. GB generation mix no longer in sync with the regional information - currently showing 28% solar across the whole country but regionally only the SE is showing any solar (6%)

Rubbish color changes. Why oh why have you changed the colors of the different energy mix. Wind, nuclear and gas are so similar makes it very difficult to differentiate. Why would you do that!?
