I've been using my trane XL824 thermostat as my Z-Wave bridge for several years now, with 3 programming sources, the thermostat, the app and the website are extremely convenient to control my devices from anywhere. It also integrates with Alexa for seamless communication and control. Trane Home is a great option for smart home setup and with Alexa integration is ideal for controlling your home devices.

The app seems to work well, but I wish the software on auto didn't have a 4 degree gap between cool and heat. It'd be better if the temps were closer together but had a time gap instead so the heat couldn't kick on for a set time after the air stopped so the house could normalize on all floors. Before it tries to do the opposite, because the control box isn't located in a place where it gets good air movement.

I do not like my Trane system. Too noisy. It takes too long to get my desired temp. Did I say its loud when it first comes on? Can't sleep when it comes on.

If I could give zero stars I would. App doesn't work at all after latest update. Update: Trane did maintenance in the app again, and it no longer works. I have to disconnect and reconnect every thermostat. This is a terrible design as I am currently traveling and can no longer access my thermostats until I return home. Still zero stars. 5.10.26. App no longer working again. Spent 4 hours trying to reconnect with no progress. Attempted all online suggestions. No help on Sundays. Still 0 stars.

Edit May 10, 2026: unreliable app-unable to adjust temp, so it's like having pretend smart features. Original: Missing Features & Clunky... scheduling should be available via the website. App force closes when trying to edit or delete parts of a schedule. System details are not available in the app.

Trane, you can do much better. This app is ridiculous! It is very difficult to set up schedules. Changing the weighting of several temperature sensors is impossible. All the great features of the hardware are bound and gagged by this primitive app. Whoever is responsible for this app is clearly not up to the task. Find another source for your coding. Seriously. Look at the Sensi thermostat app. It works great. Trash this app and start over from scratch. Whipping will not move this dead horse.
