YouCent – Pay Without Money

How It All Started…

Imagine a small village a long time ago. Money did not exist yet. People exchanged stuff with strangers and visitors at the marketplace. We call it barter.

To make a deal with locals or friends, a word of promise was enough. They could give you something today and you could bring them your stuff a bit later. People just remembered those debts or wrote them down.

Bartering and debt tracking were hard and clumsy. So, humans invented money! This wonderful tool made buying much easier. Silver and gold played the role of money in the beginning. Later, we turned to paper bills, bank accounts and credit cards.


Pay Without Money

Money and banks make our life much easier. However, the new system creates other problems. People often do not have enough cash. They are pushed to borrow and pay high interest. Money becomes an idol and a goal by itself. It is neither good nor bad by nature, but often leads to conflicts, fights and even wars.

You surely want to be free from all these disadvantages. You want to be flexible, to live in a more peaceful place and to never worry about finances. Yet, can you buy at least something without money in this world? Just like in old times but without clumsy barter.

Is It Free?

People can use YouCent for free and everyone is welcome. You only pay any-size fee once a year if you need to set your Promise Limit. A bigger amount leads to a bigger limit. This limit is like free credit. Use it when you need to send more Promises than you have on your balance.

You can surely sell first and buy later paying with Promises you already received from others. This way YouCent always stays free for you, and you do not need to use the Promise Limit.

Nevertheless, if you want to buy before you sell (or send more Promises than you have), then your Promise Limit can help you. This way you really Pay in your own Promises. Again, it is just like using a credit card, but without money and any interest.


YouCent Is Possible Because Of You!

When you sign up, your Promise Balance and Promise Limit are usually equal to zero. Your Balance grows when you sell goods and services for Promises. You use your Limit if you buy something when you don’t have enough Promises on your balance. If you spend more than you have, your balance becomes negative. Then, you need to sell more to make it positive again.

Please note that besides the flexible annual fee, there are other ways to set your Promise Limit. It can be a promocode during the sign-up process (or later), a gift from another user, or a bonus from YouCent if you help with our project.

While we want YouCent to be free as much as possible, we also thank everyone who pays fees, supports us on Patreon, or helps us any other way. We still need to pay real money for infrastructure and services to develop YouCent. So, your financial support and practical help are especially important at this early stage.
